Getting started
Getting startedCreate an organisation and your first project, then generate topics, headlines and your first article.+
First steps
- Create an organisation โ this is the space where your team works. You'll find the organisation switcher at the top of the side panel.
- Add a project โ enter your website address and the wizard will pre-fill the industry, offering and keywords based on an analysis of your site.
- Generate topics and headlines โ go to the Topics tab, add a topic and let the system suggest headlines.
- Accept a headline โ an accepted headline becomes a draft article, which automatically goes through generation, fact-checking and scoring.
You'll find finished articles in the Articles tab. If you're looking for something in particular, take a look at the other articles in this knowledge base.
The panel and navigationGet to know the panel layout: the organisation and project switchers, the side menu and changing the language.+
Around the panel
- Organisation switcher โ at the top of the side panel; it switches your entire workspace between the organisations you belong to.
- Project switcher โ selects the active project; most tabs relate to it.
- The side menu adapts to the context: with no organisation you only see the Dashboard, an organisation without a project shows the organisation tabs, and the full navigation appears once you've created a project.
- The account menu (at the bottom) holds your account settings and lets you change the interface language โ your choice is saved and applies across all your devices.
The main sections are: Dashboard, Topics, Headlines, Articles, Autopilot, API, Team, Configuration, and Help & contact.

Projects
Creating a projectThe wizard analyses your website and pre-fills the industry, offering, keywords and competitors.+
The project wizard
- Enter your website address in the first step of the wizard.
- Once you move on, we run a website analysis โ you'll see a scanning screen, which you can skip with the Skip analysis button.
- Based on the analysis, we pre-fill the industry, offering, target audience, keywords and competitor list, and we also prepare a branded template for exporting articles.
- You can freely adjust every field before saving.
As soon as the project is created, we prepare your first topic suggestions, so you can get started without facing a blank page.
Project configurationProject settings control the tone, keywords, content rules, languages and internal links.+
Project configuration
In the Configuration tab you can set, among other things:
- Industry, offering and target audience โ the context that shapes the tone and the choice of topics.
- Tone of voice โ the way we write your content.
- Keywords โ positive and negative, separately for each language.
- Content rules โ for example FAQ sections, calls to action, internal links or illustrations.
- Default language and additional languages, plus the HTML export template.
Changes are saved for the current project and affect the content generated from then on.

Topics and AI suggestionsAdd topics manually or use AI suggestions generated from your project brief.+
Topics
Topics are the starting point for headlines and articles. You'll find them in the Topics tab.
- AI suggestions โ as soon as your project is created, we prepare your first topic suggestions. You can accept each one (which fills in the new-topic form), dismiss it, or generate more with the Generate suggestions button.
- Suggestions never duplicate topics you already have.
- Topic settings โ for each topic you can configure how the autopilot behaves separately.
You can use an added topic to generate headlines.
Languages and translationsCreate content in multiple languages and automatically translate approved articles.+
Multilingual projects
In the project settings you choose a default language and additional languages. Keywords and content scoring work separately for each language.
- Manual translation โ on an article, use the Translate button for the language you want.
- Automatic translation โ turn on the translate-on-approval option in the project settings.
- Translations are fully fledged versions: you can edit them, they have their own version history, they're re-scored in the target language, and you can publish them.
The availability of translations depends on your plan.

Internal links (site map)Add a list of your own pages so the system can weave relevant internal links into your content.+
Internal links
For each project we keep a list of your own pages, which we use as targets for internal links in the articles we generate.
- We build the list automatically from your site map or by scanning your website.
- In the project settings you can turn individual links and groups on and off, as well as add, rename and remove entries manually.
- The number of links depends on your plan.
Internal links are only added when you enable the relevant content rule in the project configuration.

Articles
How article generation worksAn accepted headline triggers generation, fact-checking, SEO scoring and moderation.+
The article lifecycle
Once a headline is accepted, the article joins the queue and goes through the following stages:
- Generation of the content based on your project configuration.
- Fact-checking โ verifiable claims are flagged.
- SEO and readability scoring, plus a uniqueness check.
- Moderation and auto-fixes.
While an article is being prepared, you'll see a progress indicator in the list. The article then waits for your approval โ or it's approved and scheduled automatically if you turn on the autopilot.
In the panel: Articles
HeadlinesGenerate headline suggestions for a topic and accept the ones that will become articles.+
Headlines
Headlines are specific article titles linked to a topic. You'll find them in the Headlines tab.
- Generate headline suggestions for a chosen topic โ we take your project language into account and never duplicate existing headlines.
- Review the suggestions and accept the ones you want to use.
- An accepted headline becomes a draft article, which goes straight into preparation.
In the panel: Headlines
The editor and version historyEdit content in the visual editor, use AI rewriting, add images and switch between versions.+
The article editor
You open an article in a visual editor with a preview that matches how it will look when published.
- AI rewriting โ select a passage and improve it with a single click.
- Images โ upload your own or generate an AI illustration (depending on your plan).
- Version history โ every save and AI pass creates a version. You can preview it, restore it, and also choose which version is published โ independently of the version you're currently editing.

Exporting contentDownload a finished article in Markdown, HTML, PDF or DOCX format.+
Exporting an article
You can download any article in one of these formats:
- Markdown โ clean source text.
- HTML โ wrapped in your project's branded template, ready to paste into your website.
- DOCX โ a tidy text document.
- PDF โ a print-ready PDF document.
You'll find the download options in the article view.

Autopilot
What the autopilot isThe autopilot automates the approval and scheduling of finished articles.+
Autopilot
The autopilot lets you run a project with fewer manual steps. Once enabled, it can automatically approve and schedule finished articles for publication, in line with your project configuration and the settings of individual topics.
You'll find the settings in the Autopilot tab. The availability of this feature depends on your plan.
In the panel: Autopilot
Configuring the autopilotSet which topics the autopilot covers and how it should prepare and schedule content.+
Autopilot settings
- Project level โ the general rules for how the autopilot behaves across the whole project.
- Topic level โ for each topic you can decide separately how far the automation should go.
- The event feed shows what the autopilot has done, and the statistics are calculated from your actual content.
Turn the autopilot on gradually and keep an eye on the results in the event feed.

Plan & billing
Plan and limitsYour plan defines the limits for articles, projects, team and API keys, as well as access to premium features.+
Plan and limits
Your plan defines, among other things:
- Limits โ the monthly number of articles, and the number of projects, team members, API keys and topics.
- Features โ access to translations, AI images, the autopilot, publishing and API access.
You'll find your current usage and the option to change plan in the Plan & billing tab.
In the panel: Plan & billing
Payments and invoicesManage your subscription, change plan and download invoices in the payments portal.+
Payments
- Changing plan โ choose a new plan in the Plan & billing tab.
- Invoices and payment details โ you'll find these in the payments portal, which you can open from the same tab.
- Scope โ payments apply to the active organisation.
Payments are managed by an organisation administrator.

API & integrations
API keysGenerate a key to integrate rewriter.io with your own tools. We show the full key only once.+
API keys
In the API & integrations tab you can generate access keys. We display the full key only once โ save it somewhere safe. You can revoke a key at any time.
Each key is tied to a specific project. API access depends on your plan.
In the panel: API & integrations
Public APIFetch published articles through a read-only API, authenticated with a project key.+
Public API
We provide a read-only API that returns only published content from the chosen project. You authenticate with an API key in the authorisation header.
- Fetch the list of topics, along with the list and details of published articles.
- Filter by topic, language, phrase and date, then sort and paginate.
- Fetch an article as ready-made HTML too.
- Translations are available via the language parameter; a request rate limit applies.
You'll find the full documentation on the /api page.

Make.com integrationConnect rewriter.io to Make and publish articles automatically to your CMS, socials and email โ 2,000+ apps, no code.+
Make.com integration
Make (formerly Integromat) is a visual automation platform that connects rewriter.io to over 2,000 apps โ with no code. When an article publishes, Make can automatically send it to your CMS, your social media, your inbox or a spreadsheet.
What you can connect
- Blogs & CMS: Ghost, Webflow, Notion, Wix, Medium, Blogger.
- Social media: LinkedIn, Facebook, Buffer, Bluesky.
- Email: Gmail, Mailchimp, Outlook.
- Sheets & data: Google Sheets, Airtable.
- Any HTTP endpoint โ send the article as JSON to your own URL.
Triggers and modules
- 2 triggers: "Watch new articles" (polling) and "Watch article events" (an instant webhook that self-registers).
- 6 article events: published, scheduled, unpublished, archived, restored and translated.
- 7 modules: Get a project, List topics, List categories, Search articles, Get an article, Get article HTML, and a universal "Make an API call".
Getting started
- On a Solo, Pro or Max plan, generate an API key in API & integrations.
- Open our invitation link, pick your Make organization and confirm the installation โ the rewriter.io app appears in that account (it is a private app, not listed in the public Make directory).
- Create a connection by pasting the API key โ we validate it with a call to /v1/me.
- Build the scenario: add the "Watch new articles" trigger, then "Get an article" (map its id and language from the trigger) and your destination module. Instant variant: in "Watch article events" create the webhook on the module โ pick the connection and the event; that creates the subscription โ map "Get an article" from data.id and data.language, then turn the scenario on. In HTTP modules (Ghost, Webflow, Medium, Wix, Blogger, Notion) add a "Create JSON" step โ titles or bodies containing quotes or newlines would otherwise break the request.
API access requires a Solo, Pro or Max plan.

Account & organization
Roles and permissions in an organisationTwo roles in an organisation: Administrator with full access and Editor for working with content.+
Roles in an organisation
An organisation has two roles:
- Administrator โ full access: manages projects, the team, the plan and payments, and the organisation settings (including deleting it), as well as all content.
- Editor โ works with content: creates topics, accepts headlines, edits and publishes articles, and configures the autopilot and project settings. They have no access to payments and cannot create or delete projects.
You manage members and roles in the Team tab.
In the panel: Team
Organisation settingsSet the default language and tone for new projects, plus your organisation's internal notes.+
Organisation settings
We've split the Organisation settings page into two parts:
- Internal settings โ the default language and tone for new projects, plus internal notes. You won't find any invoice details here.
- Organisation profile โ general settings and the danger zone for irreversible actions.
Changes to the internal settings can be made by an administrator.
In the panel: Organisation settings
Help and ticketsOpen a support ticket and use the knowledge base without leaving the panel.+
Help & contact
On the Help & contact page you have two tools:
- Support tickets โ private (you only see your own). You can open a ticket, reply to it and close it.
- Knowledge base โ the help articles you're reading right now.
These tools are available to all members of the organisation.
